diary entry

Sometimes it gets really frustrating. I like to work hard and I like to help out and go the extra mile. I was working on the snow weeds journal when Suzanne called me. She asked me to go to a baseball game and write that story before Monday.

Okay here’s my frustration. My wife is expecting a baby boy. She has been really sick. I volunteered to do the weeds journal back in August and it finally came around. I basically have to layout the whole journal this week. But then I have to do extra work at the Messenger.

I have scheduled to work 10 hours a week in the office, like the internship agreement states. But the problem with that is I am expected to work in the office for 10 hours in addition to the field work I have to do to write the stories. So I end up working 15-20 hours a week. More than I can handle really.

I like the experience that I am gaining. But I refuse to choose newspaper writing as a profession. I am grateful for the work and the pay to feed my family, but I will not continue working here after the summer. It’s not my cup of tea.
